Re: White Space Radio

Thanks for the explanation. Usually the U.S will lead the world I'm jsut curious if Voyant will have to deal with it country by country if they chose to expand into other countries with White Space.

Re: White Space Radio

So in other words it is in the US but more than likely bodies the rest of the world as wel, or plays a major role in influence.

Hope that helps.

Re: The FCC

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is a independent agency of the United States government, created, directed, and empowered by Congressional statute (see 47 U.S.C. § 151 and 47 U.S.C. § 154), and with the majority of its commissioners appointed by the current President.

The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 as the successor to the Federal Radio Commission and is charged with regulating all non-federal government use of the radio spectrum (including radio and television broadcasting), and all interstate telecommunications (wire, satellite and cable) as well as all international communications that originate or terminate in the United States. It is an important factor in U.S. telecommunication policy. The FCC took over wire communication regulation from the Interstate Commerce Commission.

The FCC's mandated jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions. Due however to close geographic proximity to the United States, the FCC also provides varied degrees of cooperation, oversight, and leadership for similar communications bodies in other countries of North America.

Re: White Space Radio

Re: White Space Radio

Voyant is very smart. I like "We can now leverage the development we’ve already performed and use it to address what we expect will be an enormous new WSR market"

It's good to know that VOYT has gotten a head start.

We enjoy a head start in manufacturing WSR and this would allow Voyant quickly achieve the low cost points that will truly drive mass-market adoption.

"Among a host of other applications, Voyant expects the FCC’s ruling to enable services that include:

Broad-coverage, cost-effective Wi-Fi replacement for metropolitan Internet access (the so-called “Wi-Fi on steroids”) Cost-effective rural and alternative Internet access A new generation of mobile device on-line connectivity Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Remote video surveillance

...“This FCC ruling validates our decision to develop next-generation radios in this spectral region,” said Ed Gerhardt, Voyant’s general manager of wireless systems. “We can now leverage the development we’ve already performed and use it to address what we expect will be an enormous new WSR market. Also, we enjoy a head start in manufacturing because we can leverage our production volumes to begin driving costs down very quickly. This should allow Voyant to quickly achieve the low cost points that will truly drive mass-market adoption of WSR-enabled applications.”
