For Magnus Carlsen Confidence Made the Difference
In life and in investing, if you believe you will be successful, your chances increase. The confident ones are usually those who have done the work. The power of positive thinking and the power of belief is irreplaceable in life and business.
Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian chess Grandmaster, three-time World Chess Champion, and the co-founder of the tech company PLAY MAGNUS. In a video from 2018, he discusses the power of confidence. The confidence he explains did more for his career than anything else.
When playing against the best in the world as a teenager, Carlsen explains,
“I discovered very quickly that in order to not just draw them but to beat them, you have to have the belief that you can compete with anybody. That was the first time I really found that, and within a few years, I was completely convinced, rightly or not, that I was the man. That I was the best.”
While overconfidence can lead to ruin in investing, the belief that one has the knowledge or expertise to be a success in business and investing is paramount. Time and again, hard work and confidence tend to make the difference. For Magnus Carlsen confidence above all else, gave him an edge.
