The Canadian small-cap market lost one of its most animated and friendly financiers this past week. Our long-time friend, Gary Freeman passed away on February 13th. He was 60 years old.
Gary Will be Remembered for his Business Acumen and Wit
Gary was a well-known Vancouver venture capital financier, company builder, and contributed to the success of many Canadian listed issuers. He was a promoter in every sense of the word..
As President and CEO of Pediment Gold from 2005 to 2011, Gary raised funds to execute various exploration campaigns, leading to the discovery of the San Antonio deposit, the purchase of the La Colorada mine, and the sale of Pediment to Argonaut Gold in a deal valued at roughly $137 million.
While his business accomplishments are long, everyone who knew Gary will remember him for his sense of humour, constant grin and witty comebacks. The man could work a room like no one else. We spent many afternoons in his office on West Pender street shooting the breeze, with conversations almost always ending in gut-busting laughter. We were honoured to know the personal side of Gary, which included his love for animals, particularly the many rescue dogs he took into his home and rehabilitated with his wife. He was a colourful guy. We will miss him.
