Intelligent Money Investing talks about passive investing and dividend investing in his latest podcast. Many investors are curious about the benefit of holding dividends in their portfolio and these videos are meant to be educational. During wild swings such as the one we’re experiencing on the TSX Venture it can make sense to stay diversified.
Dividend Investing Via SPDR Dow Jones ETF
The host is based in the U.S. and starts with the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA).
The ETF pays an expense ratio of 0.15%. He explains that while some pay lower expense ratios his focus is on growth over the long term. Also, he gets into what comprises these expense ratios.
Next up is PowerShares S&P 500 High Dividend Low Volatility ETF (SPHD). The host owns shares of this ETF in his portfolio and believes it is a great beginner ETF to hold. He does note that it is largely comprised of REIT’s or real estate investment trusts. Some REIT’s have fallen under pressure due to rising interest rates of late. Lastly, he outlines a few picks from Kevin O’Leary and cautions investors on high expense ratios.
Note: He adds a disclaimer in the description of his video that states:
“Disclaimer: I am by no means a market professional so do your own research before investing in stocks! My suggestions are not guaranteed to go up in value.”
